Tea seed oil contains about five times the vitamin E of olive oil and has high moisturizing properties.
In China, it was used by Yang Guifei and the imperial family as an oil good for beauty and health about 1,300 years ago, and is said to have been used by some of the upper classes as a high-quality luxury oil.
In Japan, it has a history of being used in some tea-producing regions for food, skin care, and hair care during the oil shortages in the 1940s before and after the war.
